Sumo is 100% compatible with Magento! You can install Sumo via the extension or by manually inserting the Sumo installation code within your Magento site's scripts section. We recommend installing via the extension :)

If you have not already signed up for Sumo, check out the Getting Started with Sumo Guide before following the instructions below.


Installing the Sumo extension on Magento 1.x (recommended)

1 Go to the Magento Connect marketplace

2 Search for Sumo in the search bar

3 On the extension page, click Install Now

4 Check I Agree and click Get Extension Key

5 Copy the extension key

6 Go to your Magento Admin panel

7 Click on System > Magento Connect > Magento Connect Manager

8 Paste the extension key in and click Install, then click Proceed

9 Check the console to make sure the extension was installed successfully

10 That's it! Now you can go back to your Magento Admin panel and access Sumo!


Installing the Sumo extension on Magento 2.x (recommended)

1 First, make sure to set up your Magento installation to sync with the Magento Marketplace

2 Open the search bar and search for Sumo

3 Click Add to Cart

4 Click Go to Checkout

5 Click Place Order

6 Go back to your Magento Admin portal and click on System > Web Setup Wizard

7 Click on Component Manager

8 Click Sync to sync your Magento installation to your Marketplace purchases

9 Click Install

10 Find the Sumo extension and click Install on the right-hand side

11 Go through the readiness check steps

12 Congrats! The Sumo extension is now installed and you can start using it.


Installing Sumo on Magento 1.x manually (not recommended)

1 Login to your Magento Admin Panel and click on System > Configuration at the top-right

2 Click the Design tab in the General section

3 Scroll down to the Miscelaneous Scripts input box of the HTML Head section

4 Add the Sumo install code into the box and click Save Config!

Installing Sumo on Magento 2.x manually (not recommended)

1 Log into your Magento Admin panel

2 Click on the Content > Configuration menu

3 Click Edit next to the theme you want to add Sumo to

4 In the HTML Head section, add the Sumo install code to the Scripts and Style Sheets box

5 Click Save Configuration!
