Using mobile emulation to test Sumo mobile features

Using Mobile Emulation in Google Chrome is easy and will allow you test various Sumo apps in mobile mode right in your desktop browser. You can view Welcome Mats, List Builder Popups and Scroll Boxes in various device sizes such as tablet and mobile phone mode. This will be helpful to be sure all of your Sumo Mat and Popups are displaying correctly when being viewed on mobile devices!

Enabling Mobile Emulation

    1. Open your Google Chrome browser and open your website. Need to download Google Chrome?
    2. Right click on your website page and then click on InspectScreen_Shot_2017-03-15_at_6_40_03_PM.png
    3. Click on the Toggle Device Toolbar buttonSumo_Life____sumolife__sumome.png

      Keyboard shortcuts to open Chrome DevTools

      Windows F12 OR Ctrl + Shift + I
      Mac Cmd + Opt + I
    4. You can now see mobile emulation enabled. At the top you can switch between the different devices and size such as Laptop Large down to Mobile Small.Sumo_Life____sumolife__sumome_2.png

Disabling Mobile Emulation

  1. You can disable mobile emulation by simply clicking on the Toggle Device Toolbar button again.Sumo_Life____sumolife__sumome_3.png

Viewing the Mobile Share Bar

The mobile emulator gives you the ability to view and test your mobile Sumo Share Bar on various device sizes such as tablet and mobile phone.

  1. Open your website in Google Chrome and toggle on Mobile Emulation
  2. Choose the mobile device size you'd like to view the mobile Share Bar on and it will display. Sumo_Life____sumolife__sumome_4.png

Viewing the mobile Welcome Mat

The mobile emulator gives you the ability to view and test your mobile Welcome Mat on various device sizes such as tablet and mobile phone.

  1. Open your website in Google Chrome and toggle on Mobile Emulation
  2. Choose the mobile device size you'd like to view your mobile Welcome Mat on and refresh the page if you are not seeing the Welcome Mat.
  3. You will be able to see your responsive Welcome Mat on mobile.sumo-mobile-welcome-mat.png

Testing Mobile Display Rules

You can use the mobile emulation feature to test Display Rules that you have specifically set for mobile. Such as if you have a rule set on your Welcome Mat that says to NOT show that Mat on mobile devices.

If you have a Welcome Mat setup with a Display Rule that says for it to NOT show on mobile, you can test that rule like this:

  1. Open your website in Google Chrome and enable mobile emulation
  2. Select one of the mobile devices to test on, such as "Mobile Large"
  3. Once you select the device, refresh the page and you can see whether or not the Mat displays and if your rule is working or not
